I am an experienced visual development artist and illustrator, having spent the last decade-plus working in print, film, and videogames, with a focus on creatures and vehicle design. Capable of generating large numbers of iterative works for pre-production, I am also proficient at detailed finished illustrations.
I have always been enamoured with natural history and zoology: this interest fuels my art and offers a unique angle in my creature designs: a lifetime of learning has given me a broad knowledge base in biomechanics, evolutionary biology and morphology that allows me to create creatures and characters that are unique and, where needed, plausible.
My primary medium is digital painting in Photoshop while also learning enough Blender and ZBrush to create compositions and explore designs. Many of these skills have been learned while working on personal worldbuilding projects.
Worked as a creature designer for Subnautica: Below Zero, then jumped to pre-production on as yet unreleased original science fiction property.
Brought in as a creature designer for the film 'Warriors of Future 明日戰記', working remotely from my studio in Melbourne.
Created detailed article illustrations depicting near and far future space technology, including space tourism and asteroid mining.
Was a concept artist on an untitled mobile game.
Produced artworks of ancient coins for a fantasy property, as well as preparing illustrator files of the designs for 3D printing in metal.
Produced high-fantasy card art for Blight of the Immortals, as well as retrofuture science-fiction illustrations for the game Neptunes Pride 2: Triton
Illustrated two books about real-world robotics, with a focus on bio-mimicry and attempts to build machines capable of human like tasks.
Illustrated natural history subjects for children's books, with a focus on reconstructing extinct creatures from ancient mammals to dinosaurs.
An in-studio job with THQ owned studio Bluetongue Entertainment. Worked in diverse roles, cutting my teeth on 3D software and learned many new skills. Skill requirements varied from hard scifi, cartooning, concept sketches and finished animation and asset production.
